A new non-profit association was launched on Wednesday to advance its vision for using distributed ledger technologies (a.k.a. blockchain) and other cross-border innovations to help improve markets.

The Washington, D.C.-based American Blockchain and Cryptocurrency Association (ABCA) is open to investors, entrepreneurs, exchanges and professional firms.

The group pledges to “provide a voice for individuals and corporations who are driving the blockchain evolution … through outreach, education, research and advocacy,” ABCA says in a news release.

“ABCA provides direct access into the Washington, D.C. marketplace for individuals and organizations who are investing in, and betting on the growth of these innovative technologies. Through our expanding network of experts and our proprietary analysis of the technology and the evolving regulatory environment, we educate and empower our members, providing a voice to shape the policy discussions underway,” says Howard Greenberg, president, ABCA, in a statement.
