The Canadian Life and Health Insurance Association (CLHIA) released on its Web site today a new information brochure, A guide to travel health insurance, to assist Canadian consumers when they are purchasing travel insurance.
“Millions of Canadians travel every year either across the country or abroad for business or pleasure and, as we hear reported time and time again, unexpected illnesses and accidents do happen. The best way for the travelling public to protect themselves from unanticipated expenses is to make sure they obtain travel insurance before they leave,” says Irene Klatt, CLHIA’s vp, health insurance.
The brochure contains advice and tips on how to determine what supplementary health coverage is needed and what the options are; questions to ask before making a purchase; and explaining how the claims process works. It also provides contact information for health benefit plans in all the provinces and territories.
