The Calgary-based National Exempt Market Association (NEMA) is rolling out a series of infographics with the purpose of simplifying conversations between advisors who handle private capital investments and their clients.
A diagram and brief explanation will describe the rules surrounding investors’ eligibility for the offering memorandum (OM) prospectus exemption in each province and territory. The development of the infographics follows new rules for the OM exemption that became in effect in Ontario, Alberta, New Brunswick, Nova Scotia, Quebec and Saskatchewan earlier this year.
“One of the challenges our members sometimes have in sitting down with potential investors is explaining the eligibility rules. These infographics provide a clear and simple explanation that exempt-market dealing representatives can walk through with their clients,” said Craig Skauge, president and founder of NEMA, in a statement released Tuesday.
“We hope this tool and future ones will make investing in the exempt market more approachable and understandable for investors of various means, as was intended by the new regulations,” he adds.
The new resource can be found on the NEMA website.
