The Nasdaq Stock Market Inc. announced it has completed its previously announced acquisition of Shareholder.com.
Shareholder.com will operate as a wholly owned subsidiary of Nasdaq, providing shareholder communications and intelligence services to publicly listed companies. The firm currently services over 1,000 clients, including companies listed on both domestic and foreign exchanges.
Doug Ventola, who had served as Shareholder.com’s chief financial officer, has been appointed president of Shareholder.com. “We look forward to our new relationship with Nasdaq, which recognizes that Shareholder employees are dedicated and focused on helping clients establish and maintain high value relationships with their shareholders.”
Shareholder.com’s former president and founder, Ronald Gruner, will become strategic advisor for both Nasdaq and Shareholder.com. Gruner will work with development teams on new initiatives that will continue to expand the organizations’ vision for all public companies.
“The acquisition of Shareholder.com is a continuation of Nasdaq’s strategy to maximize the value companies receive from Nasdaq. We will continue to explore new opportunities to enhance the listing and trading experience of the 3,100 companies who list with us,” said Nasdaq executive vice president Bruce Aust.

Liberal Industry Minister MP David Emerson appears to have jumped ship for the chance to become a Conservative cabinet minister.
The 60-year-old former banker, businessman and economist was elected in the B.C. riding of Vancouver-Kingsway in 2004 and again last month as a Liberal.

He showed up at Rideau Hall on Monday morning, apparently to be sworn into Conservative Leader Stephen Harper’s cabinet.
If that’s the case, Emerson will have followed the example of former Conservative MP Belinda Stronach, who crossed the floor last year to become a Liberal cabinet minister.
Emerson was formerly B.C.’s deputy minister of finance, president of the Western and Pacific Bank of Canada (now Canadian Western Bank), president of the B.C. Trade Development Corporation and president of Canfor Corporation, B.C.’s largest forestry company.
