Community leaders and credit union members are being invited to share their thoughts on how Meridian Credit Union can expand its commitment to corporate social responsibility (CSR) in neighbourhoods across south-central Ontario.
Meridian is Ontario’s largest and Canada’s third largest credit union serving more than 209,000 personal and commercial members across south-central Ontario
“As an organization founded on cooperative principles, we have a strong commitment to social responsibility and to investing in the communities we serve,” says Sean Jackson, president and CEO of Meridian Credit Union, .
Through its Good Neighbour Program, Meridian will invest more than $1 million this year alone in organizations, programs and events that help build stronger, inclusive and more vibrant communities.
“The Good Neighbour Program has been tremendously successful. Now, we want to do more. We are looking for thoughts and ideas on improving the social, environmental and economic infrastructure of communities where Meridian operates with our Building Stronger Neighbourhoods – Community Forums,” Jackson says.
Like the Good Neighbour Program, Meridian says any new CSR initiatives will have a local focus and support initiatives designed to build the community and help real people build lives.
Forums are planned for Barrie, Niagara, Toronto, Kincardine, and Guelph.
