Proxy advisory firm Institutional Shareholder Services Inc. (ISS) plans to launch a new data verification service ahead of the upcoming proxy season.

ISS said that its new portal for U.S. corporations, which will be operational Jan. 10, marks a major expansion of its data verification program used by companies that are covered by the firm’s research and voting recommendations.

The portal will let companies verify more than 400 governance and compensation data points that are used in the firm’s proxy research, including executive pay numbers, share-based compensation data, and details about individual directors (including gender and ethnicity).

“Data quality is paramount for ISS, and with this launch we are pleased to raise the industry’s bar on data accuracy as part of the proxy research process,” ISS CEO Gary Retelny said in a release.
