Bell Canada today announced plans to implement internet phones at the Royal Bank’s head office in Toronto.
Bell said it will will work with its partners Cisco Systems Canada and IBM Canada to implement a fully managed solution for RBC, converting approximately 8,400 of the bank’s phone lines to Voice over Internet Protocol (VoIP).
Internet telephones hold out the prospect of cost savings for users.
Converting Royal Bank’s lines to VoIP “will make a direct contribution to our productivity,” said Dick Swadley, head of internet technology infrastructure at RBC, in a release.
