The board of the directors of the Toronto-based Investment Funds Institute of Canada (IFIC) has a new chairman and two vice-chairs.

Effective November 2013, Brian Peters, president and CEO of MD Physician Services Inc. is the chairman of IFIC’s board. Peters replaces Glen Gowland, managing director & head, Canadian wealth management-distribution, Scotiabank) who is no longer a board member.

“I am pleased to be assuming this role at a time of transformational change in the investment funds industry,” said Peters in a statement. “The industry is working diligently to deliver improvements to investor statements that will provide Canadian investors with easy to understand information about their investment funds, account fees and performance. These are welcome changes that, when fully implemented, will transform the advisor-investor relationship and result in better-informed investors.”

As well, Sian Burgess, senior vice president, fund oversight, Fidelity Investments was elected first vice-chairwoman and John Adams, CEO, PFSL Investments Ltd was made second vice-chairman.

IFIC also announced the appointment of Jordy Chilcott, managing director & head, Scotiabank Asset Management-Retail and president & CEO of Dynamic Funds and Chris Enright, president and managing director of Aligned Capital Partners Inc. to the board of directors.
