Toronto-based High Rock Capital Management Inc. has announced the launch of its private client division for individuals, households and small institutions.

“High Rock’s private client division will be unique amongst the investment advisor community and other asset management firms, especially in the areas of fee transparency, expertise in fixed income and the groundbreaking use of an independent review committee (chaired by Wychrest Compliance Services),” states the firm in its announcement regarding the initiative.

The private client line of business will operate parallel to High Rock’s existing institutional business. The firm manages approximately $200 million across four closed-end funds on behalf of Scotia Managed Companies Administration Inc., a division of Toronto-based Bank of Nova Scotia.

The firm also welcomes Scott Tomenson as co-owner and managing partner. Pending approval from the Ontario Securities Commission, Tomenson will also be a portfolio manager at the firm. He has more than 30 years of investment management experience, in which he has held the roles of institutional fixed income trader, risk manager, investment advisor and portfolio manager at firms in both Toronto and New York.

High Rock was founded in 2010 by Paul Tepsich. The firm focuses on the active management of fixed income mandates with an emphasis on high yield debt.
