More than 150 leaders of Canada’s hedge fund industry gathered at the Royal Ontario Museum November 4 for the sixth annual Open Your Hearts to the Children Gala.
The special fundraising evening organized by Hedge Funds Care Canada raised more than $130,000 for the prevention and treatment of child abuse, bringing the amount the organization has raised for this worthwhile cause to date to more than $1 million.
“We are very pleased that all proceeds from the event will go to support local and national foundations that support the prevention and treatment of child abuse,” said Hedge Funds Care Canada President and Director Corey Goldman. “The dollars raised this year will have a very positive impact in fighting the scourge of child abuse in this country,” he said.
The evening’s program included recognition of the Child Development Institute, an important Hedge Funds Care Canada grant recipient, which is celebrating its 100th year of outstanding service to Canada’s children. A special award was also presented to Sprott Asset Management in appreciation of their role as Hedge Funds Care Canada’s lead supporter and largest donor.
Event Chair Meghan MacNicol said: “The success of this year’s event reflects an overwhelming response from the hedge fund community and the generous sponsorship support of Sprott Asset Management, Scotia Capital, MAN Investments, Polar Securities, Marret Asset Management, Mapleridge Capital, TD Securities, RBC Capital Markets, PricewaterhouseCoopers and Arrow Hedge Partners Inc., as well as the individual attendees and donors.”
