Haywood Securities Inc. is expanding its investment research team with two new appointments and two promotions.
Rob Goff has been promoted to head of research, and will lead a growing research team that now includes senior oil and gas research analyst Frederick Kozak and research manager Christine Sauriol. The company has also promoted research associate Andrew Mikitchook to senior mining analyst.
Reflecting on the new Haywood team, Goff stated: “Frederick and Andrew fit perfectly with our plan to build Haywood’s client franchise on strong, objective research delivered with a passion for equity markets. In addition, Christine brings us a wealth of invaluable regulatory expertise and industry savvy. These appointments are part of our core strategy to utilize fundamentally driven research skills to effectively meet the goals of all our clients.”
Kozak becomes Haywood’s second senior oil and gas research analyst working out of the company’s Calgary branch. Kozak, who earned his MBA at the University of Western Ontario, was an equity analyst for the past four years and has spent 13 years in the oil and gas industry as a consultant. Prior to that, he was a senior production engineer at ATCOR Resources Ltd. and Petro-Canada.
As senior mining analyst, Mikitchook will build on his specialization in exploration and development. After graduating from geological engineering, Mikitchook worked as an assistant project manager at Magnesium Alloy Corp. in the Congo and a geological engineer at Ashurst Resources in the Ukraine. For the past four years, he has followed the mining sector as a research associate at Haywood. As a senior analyst, his primary coverage of SEMAFO Inc., Anatolia Minerals Development Ltd. and AXMIN Inc. will be expanded to capitalize on emerging opportunities.
Mikitchook, based in Toronto, will work alongside senior mining analysts Kerry Smith and Jim Mustard.
Sauriol moves to the new post of research manager. In this role, she will be responsible for research compliance and coordinating research with sales and trading.
Sauriol has considerable industry expertise, including experience as a surveillance officer with Market Regulation Services Inc. (RS). While at RS, she was also team leader for the Education Committee. She has worked as a compliance manager with an independent North American investment dealer and as a compliance officer with one of Canada’s largest integrated investment dealers.
Goff has been promoted to the position of head of research. He joined Haywood in 2003 from a leading global brokerage firm, where he was a director in Canadian telecom research and a senior member of an integrated global team that covered wireline, wireless and cable. Prior to this, Goff was a director at two of Canada’s top investment banks, developing his strong industry knowledge and equity research skills. His investment career began as a buy-side analyst with one of Canada’s largest investment counselors, Mutual Life.
