Independent investment dealer Haywood Securities Inc., has added Eric Zaunscherb to its mining research team. Zaunscherb, who will work out of Haywood’s Vancouver office, joins senior mining analysts Jim Mustard, Kerry Smith, Andrew Kaip and Stefan
Ioannou.
“Eric clearly brings to Haywood a wealth of research and investing experience specifically pertaining to the mining industry,” said Rob Blanchard, president of Haywood Securities, in a release. “He has a proven track record of success and the ability, motivation and passion to be an asset to our team of talented analysts.”
Haywood’s commitment to comprehensive coverage of the mining sector is evident by its decision to pursue an analyst of Zaunscherb’s calibre and experience, the company says. He brings a wealth of knowledge of precious and base metals and minerals, diamonds, coal, and uranium companies. Natural resources are central to Haywood’s business and expanding the mining research division will allow the company to continue to provide cutting edge, in-depth and timely information to its savvy customer base, the firm says.
“Eric’s decision to join Haywood is indicative of the strength of the company, and in particular our mining franchise,” said Rob Goff, Haywood’s head of research. “We were impressed that Eric had previously run a successful, independent research firm established to address the lack of independent coverage in the mining and bioscience areas. The ability to successfully run a soft dollar research firm attests to the quality and
objectivity of Eric’s research.”
Zaunscherb brings to Haywood his experience as a geologist and 18 years as an equity analyst covering the mining sector. He also brings a depth of experience, having worked as a senior analyst across three leading Canadian brokerage firms. He earned a bachelor of science (geology) degree from McMaster University (1984) and the chartered financial analyst designation in 1990.
