GMP Capital Trust is expanding operations into Quebec, as it opened its first GMP Private Client office in Montreal today, the firm announced.
GMP has had investment banking and equity sales and trading operations in Montreal since 1996, through GMP Securities, but this new office will include the new GMP Private Client branch and the EdgeStone Capital Partners office, the firm said.
They are co-located with GMP Securities on the 15th floor of 1250 René Lévesque Boulevard. According to the company, the Montreal GMP Private Client branch office already has two investment advisory teams in place and the branch’s expansion is being headed by Benoit Marcotte.
“The expansion of our Montreal office and the launch of GMP Private Client in Quebec mark important milestones towards achieving GMP’s goal of extending our reach by strengthening existing relationships and creating new ones,” said Kevin Sullivan, CEO of GMP Capital Trust, in a news release.
“We are very pleased to begin operations in Quebec, a market we have had our eye on for some time,” said James Werry, CEO of GMP Private Client. “Our wealth management business has experienced tremendous growth since its inception less than three years ago. We look forward to building our brand by continuing to recruit top advisory teams and by offering complete wealth management solutions and personalized strategies to clients in Quebec.”
As well, the company said the GMP Capital Trust annual general meeting will be held in Montreal on May 9 at Le Windsor.
