A two-day investment funds industry conference, originally scheduled for mid-October, has been postponed until spring 2010 due to calls for more preparation time.
The inaugural ifiFORUM’09 Investment Funds Industry Conference was pulled together in response to the Canadian investment industry calling for a more substantial industry event, according to Richard Thomas, president of Cornu Productions, Inc., which is organizing the forum. It was scheduled to take place October 15 to 16 at Roy Thomson Hall in Toronto.
Organizers began working to pull together the forum in July, after several established national industry conferences were cancelled. But the 90-day timeline was too rushed, Thomas said.
“Rescheduling the event to spring 2010 is a direct response to calls for longer timelines so that wider industry participation could be achieved and so that potential partners could leverage their involvement more fully,” he said.
But Thomas added that the organizers have received positive feedback around the event.
“It’s really an event that the industry is telling us — speakers, sponsors and delegates are telling us — that the industry needs and deserves,” he said.
New dates for the forum are expected to be determined in the next few weeks.
