Freedom 55 Financial, a division of London, Ont.-based London Life Insurance Company, will be partnering with the Canadian Football League Players’ Association (CFLPA) to offer job-shadowing and potential career opportunities to retired players, the financial services firm announced Tuesday.

“At Freedom 55 Financial, we welcome the opportunity to help retired players begin a new career in the financial services industry,” Jeff Macoun, president and chief operating officer, Canada, says in a statement. “For those who are interested in this field, this partnership offers a straight-forward and informative way of pursuing their interests. Add to that the top-notch training and development available through this partnership and I know these individuals will be set on the right path towards a long-term, sustainable and successful career in financial planning.”

Jeff Keeping, CFLPA president, says players have already developed strong character traits, networks and life skills during their sporting careers, which would be relevant in any future advisory practices.
