Results are now available for the November sitting of the FPSC Level 1 Examination in Financial Planning and the CFP examination, which took place in 55 testing centres across Canada on Nov. 28, 2014.
A total of 868 candidates wrote the examinations, which are required steps along the path to obtaining the internationally recognized Certified Financial Plannerdesignation.
The CFP examination, the second and final exam on the path to CFP certification, was written by 367 candidates. The overall pass rate was 70 per cent. Of the candidates who wrote the exam, 248 were first-time writers (79 per cent pass rate), while 119 were reattempting the exam (53 per cent pass rate).
To qualify to write the six-hour exam, which consists of a combination of constructed-response and multiple-choice questions, candidates must obtain FPSC Level 1 Certification in Financial Planning and successfully complete an FPSC-Approved Capstone Course.
The FPSC Level 1 examination was written by 501 candidates. The overall pass rate was 70 per cent. Of the candidates who wrote the exam, 379 were first-time writers (78 per cent pass rate), while 122 were reattempting the exam (45 per cent pass rate). To qualify to write the four-hour exam, candidates must complete an FPSC-Approved Core Curriculum program.
A full list of successful exam writers, including President’s List recipients who have achieved top marks on the CFP examination, will be published March 27 in Investment Executive newspaper.
