The Independent Order of Foresters today announced the appointment of George Mohacsi as Foresters new president and CEO, effective immediately.
The appointment was made following an extensive search involving both internal and external candidates.
“George brings his broad experience and proven success in managing life insurance operations to the role of CEO,” said Christopher Wansbrough, chairman of Foresters board.
Since he joined Foresters in 2002 as senior vp of operations and technology, Mohacsi has led several significant strategic change initiatives, including the outsourcing of Foresters information technology infrastructure, establishing new relationships with national community partners, upgrading certificate administration systems and building strong leadership in the operations and technology areas. Most recently, he assumed additional responsibility for the marketing of Foresters products and services.
Over his 30-year career in the life insurance industry, Mohacsi has held roles of increasing responsibility at Crown Life, Royal Life Canada and Zurich Life Canada. He has experience in information technology, corporate planning, marketing, sales, operations, and asset management with successful results in every area.
A graduate of University of Toronto with a degree in Industrial Engineering, Mohacsi is a board member of Hope Air, a Toronto-based charity that makes free air transportation available to Canadians in need who must travel outside their home communities for medical care. He has also served for many years as a fundraising volunteer with the Canadian Cancer Society, the Heart and Stroke Foundation and several other organizations. He has also been active in youth sports as a community basketball league coach.
