Three more financial services companies have donated funds to flood relief efforts in Peterborough, Ontario.
The Co-operators today announced a donation of $10,000 to the City of Peterborough Disaster Relief Fund.
“Our staff and agents in Peterborough are reaching out to assist their fellow neighbours and community members with open hearts. We are committed to helping out with local flood relief efforts,” said Chris Ross, District Manager, The Co-operators, in a news release.
As part of its catastrophe management program, staff of The Co-operators from across Eastern Canada have gone to Peterborough to help process an estimated 600 client claims and to expedite clean up efforts. A similar approach is underway in Edmonton, Alberta, where the Insurance Bureau of Canada estimates total damage due to storms last week to exceed $110 million. The Co-operators have three agent offices in Peterborough and a claims office with approximately 45 staff.
Manulife Financial also announced a $10,000 donation to assist those affected by heavy rains and flooding in Peterborough.
Manulife’s donation will help The Canadian Red Cross efforts to raise donations to assist flood victims with housing, food, clean up, clothing and home repairs. The organization recently launched a public campaign to raise funds to support recovery assistance for those ravaged by the flood.
On Tuesday, CIBC today announced a $10,000 donation to assist those who have been impacted by flooding in the area.
Local representatives of CIBC will be meeting with city officials to determine how best to allocate these funds.
