Montreal-based Fiera Capital Corp. announced on Monday three new senior appointments, which are meant to support the firm’s goal of expansion in Canada and the U.S.
John Valentini joins the asset manager’s global team in the role of executive vice president and chief financial officer (CFO), effective immediately. Valentini will be spearhead the finance, operations and information technology, legal and compliance, and enterprise risk management functions as well as play a key role in strategic initiatives, according to Fiera Capital’s announcement.
He joins the firm from PSP Investments, the Ottawa-based public sector pension fund manager, where he was executive vice president, CFO and COO. His professional experience also includes a series of executive roles in corporate finance, mergers and acquisitions and corporate restructuring for public companies.
Fiera Capital also announced the promotion of Sylvain Roy to president and COO of its Canadian division, effective Oct. 1. Roy, who is currently chief investment officer and executive vice president of alternative strategies, joined the firm in 2004. In his 18 years in the industry, he has also held roles as a senior portfolio manager, vice president of global asset allocation and a quantitative analyst.
“Investment performance has and will always be Fiera Capital’s top priority. I am very excited to take on these new responsibilities and to successfully bring our Canadian operations to the next stage of their growth,” said Roy in a statement.
Lastly, David Stréliski has been appointed to the role of senior vice president and chief risk officer, which is a newly created position for Fiera Capital. Stréliski is responsible for overseeing company-wide risk management, a field in which he has more than 20 years of experience. He was most recently vice president of performance and evaluation with the Caisse de dépôt et placement du Québec.
