Financial Executives International Canada (FEI Canada) applauds the Expert Panel on Securities Regulation on the recommendations tabled Monday in its report.
FEI Canada fully supports the panel’s recommendation to establish a national securities regulator to administer a single securities act for Canada.
“FEI Canada is strongly in favour of a single national securities regulator, representative of all participating jurisdictions” says Michael Conway, chief executive and national president, FEI Canada. “We encourage the federal government and Canada’s provinces and territories to adopt the recommendations presented by the Expert Panel and to quickly move toward implementation.”
FEI Canada is further pleased to see the implementation of a principles-based approach to securities regulation among the panel’s list of recommendations. “This form of regulation creates the foundation of a more agile and responsive system which will support and enhance the overall competitiveness of Canadian financial markets,” says Conway.
