DisnatDirect, launched only two weeks ago by Disnat, the online brokerage division of Desjardins Securities, showed its determination to break into the Canadian market in a big way by acquiring the internet division customer base of SwiftTrade, the largest direct-access brokerage in Canada.
SwiftTrade’s internet division generates more than $1 million in annual revenues.
According to Yves Néron, head of the online brokerage division of Desjardins Securities, “Our acquisition of SwiftTrade clearly shows our determination to invest in a growing market and ensure that we have a solid Pan-Canadian presence. Which is what the SwiftTrade acquisition does since the vast majority of their client base is concentrated in Ontario and British Columbia.”
SwiftTrade Securities Inc. was founded in 1997 by Peter Beck, Charles Kim and Joseph Ianni. Headquartered in Toronto, SwiftTrade is the first and the largest direct-access electronic trading center in Canada.
