More than 60 financial professionals from China took part in special ceremonies last week marking the successful completion of CSI’s latest education programs designed specifically for Chinese securities firms.

The graduates are part of an on-going partnership, developed with the Securities Association of China (SAC), to bring Canadian financial services best practices to the Chinese securities industry.

“The demand for Canadian financial services expertise especially in the areas of proficiency and compliance standards is growing,” said Roberta Wilton, president & CEO of CSI, in a news release. “This is the fourth year we’ve had Chinese financial services professionals graduate in Toronto from our Canada-China initiatives, which is part of a growing list of training programs CSI is offering in China and other international markets.”

The graduates are from the two largest securities firms in China, Guotai Junan Securities and Shenyin & Wanguo Securities, both based in Shanghai. The intense 30 to 41 day programs focused on securities and brokerage firm management and operations. Subjects ranged from basic financial markets and investment options to advanced cases in investment banking operations, risk management and wealth management.

“CSI is providing Chinese securities firms with the knowledge we need to continue the rapid development of our capital markets. CSI is one of our most important international partners and we will continue to increase our partnership initiatives with CSI.” said Xiaowu Yang, Vice-Chairman, Securities Association of China.

The graduation ceremony took place at Hart House at the University of Toronto.

CSI offers more than 120 courses ranging from the Canadian Securities Course to sophisticated accreditation programs such as the Chartered Professional (Ch.P) Strategic Wealth designation.
