The Canadian Securities Institute and Dalhousie University today announced that they have revised the application requirements for the Dalhousie MBA (Financial Services) – CSI stream.

The changes offer CSI students more flexibility while maintaining the program’s rigorous acceptance standards. CSI and Dalhousie University joined forces in April 2004 granting students with specified CSI courses advanced standing in the MBA application process.

Students that apply for CSI stream will still be required to complete six specified CSI courses; however the courses are now categorized as required, core, and elective, giving students more qualification options. Complete details regarding the application guidelines are available online at www.csi.ca.

“Dalhousie is an internationally recognized leader in management education,” said Roberta Wilton, President and CEO of CSI. “The changes to the Dalhousie MBA-CSI stream provide more CSI students with the opportunity to enhance their management skills and knowledge at one of Eastern Canada’s most distinguished academic institutions.”

The CSI stream offered by Dalhousie is accredited by the Association to Advance Collegial Schools of Business (AACSB), an honour representing the highest standard of achievement for business schools worldwide. The program was primarily designed for managers and executives in the financial services industry and was developed in direct response to industry demand.

The program is offered in a distance education format that specifically addresses the needs of individuals that work full time, live outside communities with universities and/or those that require materials available in a self-directed study format. It ensures a high level of academic excellence by enabling students to interact with their professors and each other for a specified period of time, similar in duration to that spent in class by full-time MBA students.

“CSI and Dalhousie share the common goal of providing a superior educational experience,” said Ray Klapstein, Director, School of Business Administration. “We look forward to working with CSI on this academic endeavour and hope that we can jointly inspire a host of minds to explore and achieve their full potential through this exceptional degree program.”
