Students, corporate clients and partners of the Canadian Securities Institute will now be able to simulate securities trading and manage a virtual portfolio online following the CSI’s acquisition of Simvest Corp.
CSI announced today that is has acquired Simvest, a global leader in e-learning solutions for banks, brokerages, portals and educational institutions.
Simvest has developed a state-of-the-art online, real-time investing simulation that has been used to educate university, college and high school students, and to train the staff and customers of international banks and brokerage firms.
“This acquisition makes good, strategic sense for CSI”, said Dr. Roberta Wilton, president and CEO of the CSI. “The Simvest technology is robust and proven and will complement CSI’s product line of investment education courses and enhance the student learning experience. At the same time, CSI will continue to offer the technology as a stand alone product in our marketing efforts to potential clients and partners in North America and globally.”
Simvest’s “learn-by-doing” investing model takes a unique approach to educating all types of investors — novice and sophisticated — by allowing them to manage a virtual portfolio, including equities, options etc., without the risks associated with investing real dollars in a real account.
Major financial institutions around the world are using the simulations to train employees, increase their effectiveness and make them more knowledgeable.
