Amid growing concerns about so-called greenwashing, and other issues arising from the growth of sustainable investing, the Canadian Securities Administrators (CSA) is hosting an online roundtable to discuss ESG-related regulatory issues in asset management.

The CSA announced plans for a virtual roundtable on Sept. 27, an event that will examine a range of issues that have accompanied the growth in ESG investing, including concerns about investment fund disclosure.

A panel discussion — moderated by vice chair of the Ontario Securities Commission (OSC), Wendy Berman — will consider topics such as potential regulatory gaps, proxy voting issues, the state of ESG data, and ESG-related disclosure and marketing issues.

The panel will include representatives from several investment firms, including BlackRock, RBC Global Asset Management, National Bank Investments and NEI Investments. Speakers from investor advocacy group the Canadian Foundation for the Advancement of Investor Rights (FAIR Canada) and Morningstar Sustainalytics will also take part.
