Croesus has opened a lab in Montreal to encourage technological innovation within the wealth management technology provider, the firm announced on Wednesday.
“Croesus Lab will allow teams to explore cutting-edge technologies and to better understand how the company can overcome new challenges by integrating new technologies such as artificial intelligence, blockchain and augmented reality,” the Montreal-based company says in a news release.
It differs from other industry labs in that it is established within existing teams. The model, inspired by Google Research, has been adapted to Croesus’ reality as a smaller firm.
The lab is based on collaborative partnerships. Projects have already begun in tandem with two Canadian universities and the Centre de Recherche Informatique de Montréal.
In the long term, Croesus’ goal is to establish relationships with other industry players. The company also aims to support and guide clients such as Toronto-Dominion Bank, Canadian Imperial Bank of Commerce , National Bank Financial and Desjardins Group.
“The Croesus Lab is an important step in the company’s evolution. This is an opportunity to enhance our internal capabilities with access to state-of-the-art resources and specialized knowledge. It is also a way to give back to the fintech community thanks to the expertise of our dedicated employees,” says Sylvain Simpson, Croesus president, in a statement.
