Bank of Nova Scotia says it will make available to consumers their credit bureau information.
The bank says it is the first of the Canadian-based banks to provide the information. It will be available online in real time via a direct Web site link to Equifax, Canada’s leading credit information company.
Consumers can access this service from Scotiabank’s Web site at www.scotiabank.com/equifax.
“It is important for all Canadians to regularly review their credit bureau information to ensure that it is accurate and to prevent any surprises from arising when they need to apply for credit,” said Paul Lamothe, Scotiabank vice president for credit risk management. “This link will provide anyone viewing the Scotiabank Web site with direct, convenient access to their own personal credit bureau information. Lenders use this information regularly as part of their evaluation of customer requests for credit. We invite Canadians to review their Equifax credit information and talk to us about how we can help them become financially better off.”
Credit history is one important factor considered in granting a loan, credit card, mortgage or other credit product.
