Online broker Credential Direct today announced a lower commission schedule including ‘flat-fee’ pricing.

Web traders now pay just $19 flat-fee for web-based stock trades of 1,000 shares or less, or for $2,000 principal value or less. Options web trades are now super-competitive at just $19, plus $1.25/contract.

In addition the multiple price levels have been reduced to just one, making it easier to compare commissions to other brokers.

Telephone trades are even simpler, adding just $14 to the new low web commissions.

Active Traders pay just $9.95 flat for all stock trades while still enjoying the lowest qualification threshold in the industry (25 or more trades per quarter).

“It’s important to offer an online brokerage that appeals to both the active trader looking for timely market data and industry-leading analysis, while still providing financial planning tools for the regular investor — all at the best price,” said Lothar Fabian, vp, Credential Direct, in a news release“The new lower and simplified commission schedule will benefit all types of investors.”

In addition to the new fee structure, Credential Direct has continued with its unique pricing cap of $250 for any trade, saving hundreds of dollars on high value transactions over most other brokers.

Credential Direct currently has an RSP promotion granting new RSP accounts with Active Trader commissions until March 31.

Credential Direct is a division on Credential Securities Inc., the credit union system’s preferred full service brokerage.
