The Crawford Panel on a single Canadian securities regulator will present its final report proposing a new model for a single Canadian securities regulator at 12:30 p.m. on Wednesday, June 7 at the Hilton Toronto.
The panel was established by the Ontario minister responsible for securities regulation in May 2005 and tasked with recommending a model for a single securities regulator, a single body of securities law, and a single fee structure.
On Dec. 7, 2005, the panel released a discussion paper titled A Blueprint for a New Model. Since then, the panel has held consultations with capital market participants at a series of roundtables, presented the discussion paper to the provincial ministers responsible for securities regulation, and met with the chairs of most securities regulatory authorities across the country, various federal and provincial public servants, as well as members of the private sector.
