Canadian taxpayers will be receiving redesigned assessments from the Canada Revenue Agency (CRA) this year that aim to be clearer and more useful, the agency announced on Tuesday.
Starting this month, the CRA will be sending out redesigned tax assessments, which are intended to be easier to read and understand.
“The re-designed [notice of assessment (NOA)] will have the most important information on the first page, set out in a clear and simple format,” CRA says its announcement. The new assessments aim to help meet the federal government’s commitment to make the CRA more client-focused and more helpful by improving how it communicates with taxpayers, according to the announcement
The effort to redesign the agency’s external correspondence, including the NOA, follows “an extensive evaluation” that was carried out in the fall of 2014, the CRA announcement says. “Focusing on how the notices are structured, designed, formatted, and written, the CRA has made changes to make the information easier to read and understand,” the announcement adds.
As well, the re-designed assessments can now be accessed through the CRA’s self-service portal and its mobile app.
