Toronto-based Cougar Global Investments Ltd. is now an affiliate of Eagle Asset Management Inc., a wholly owned subsidiary of Raymond James Financial Inc. (RJF), thanks to recent Canadian regulatory approval. Eagle Asset Management made the announcement on Friday.
“This [deal] strengthens our platform and ability to deliver a greater variety of investment choices to our Canadian clients and other investors,” said Paul Allison, chairman and CEO of Raymond James Ltd., the Canadian arm of RJF, when the deal was initially announced in March 2015.

Cougar Global is global asset-allocation exchange-traded fund (ETF) strategist that markets its investment services to high net-worth individuals, foundations, trusts and institutions in Canada and the U.S. Assets in the firm’s investment strategies amounted to more than $1.8 billion as of Mar. 31, 2015.
“This acquisition continues to enhance our presence within the asset-management industry by providing us with an important suite of investment options that our clients are seeking,” said Richard Rossi, president of Eagle and co-chief operating officer.
