Citigroup Canada today officially broke ground on a new, modern campus in Mississauga, Ont. celebrating Citigroup’s ongoing commitment to growth in Canada.

The state-of-the-art facility represents a $59 million investment by Citigroup. The site will accommodate approximately 2,000 employees and help facilitate Citigroup’s planned business growth in the Canadian market.

“‘We’re excited to officially break ground at the future site of our Canadian campus here in Mississauga,”‘ said Ken Quinn, chairman and CEO, Citibank Canada, in a news release. “‘The new facility will enable Citigroup to become more efficient, maximize our potential for growth and provide new and exciting employment opportunities by bringing a number of our Canadian business groups together under the same roof.”‘

Employees at Citi Cards offices in Toronto and Burlington, Ont. as well as employees from four CitiFinancial Canada sites in Toronto, Mississauga and Concord, Ont. will move into the facility when construction is complete, currently scheduled for late 2007.

The new Canadian campus will be the hub of several Citigroup Canada business operations, including Citi Cards Canada Inc., Citi Commerce Solutions of Canada Ltd. and CitiFinancial Canada, Inc. The facility will be enhanced with a variety of amenities and benefits, including an on-site fitness and wellness centre, training facilities, parking, full cafeteria and ergonomic work stations with all new equipment.
