Two new CEOs at large global banks — Citigroups’s Michael Corbat and Barclays’ Antony Jenkins— have joined the board of the global banking lobby group, the Institute of International Finance (IIF).
Jenkins started his career at Barclays in 1983. He moved to Citigroup in 1989, working in both London and New York, before rejoining Barclays in 2006. He joined the bank’s executive committee in 2009, and has since been appointed CEO.
Corbat has been with Citigroup and its predecessor companies since graduating from university in 1983, where he has held a variety of positions, including CEO of its Europe, the Middle East and Africa region; CEO of Citi Holdings, its portfolio of non-core businesses; and, as CEO of the global wealth management unit; before taking the top job overall.
Douglas Flint, chairman of the IIF board and group chairman of HSBC Holdings plc, said he was, “delighted that two leading proponents of the changes that are taking place in the international banking world have agreed to serve on the board of the IIF.”
“The Institute has a powerful board of directors. With the addition of Michael and Antony, who are at the forefront of today’s thinking about how our industry can better serve society, it becomes even more so,” added Tim Adams, managing director of the IIF.
