The Canadian Investor Protection Fund has issue a notice advising firms and reps how to handle questions from clients regarding CIPF coverage.

It notes that current market conditions have resulted in an increase in enquiries from clients regarding coverage. In response, CIPF has prepared an outline to assist dealers in responding to client questions.

Additionally, it says that dealers wanting to send something to clients should use the CIPF brochure or a link to the CIPF web site.

Firms that prepare their own description of CIPF coverage to send to clients should have it reviewed by CIPF to ensure it is technically accurate, it adds.
