CIBC is hosting its 25th annual Miracle Day fundraiser on Wednesday, with the bank’s wholesale banking sales and trading staff and participating CIBC Wood Gundy investment advisors donating their fees and commissions to children’s charities across the country.

The annual charitable event has raised more than $50 million since it was conceived in Canada in 1984.

“For the past 25 years, CIBC Miracle Day has touched the lives of children from coast to coast,” said Richard Nesbitt, chairman and CEO of CIBC World Markets Inc. “Whether a hot meal to start the day, extra help with schoolwork, a place to turn to in a crisis, or the fulfillment of a child’s special wish – the joint efforts of our employees and clients have helped thousands of children in need.”

Funds raised on Miracle Day benefit a wide range of children’s charities. Last year, the fundraiser generated $3.1 million in Canada.
