The Canadian ETF Association (CETFA) Tuesday announced that eight portfolio managers have joined the association as portfolio manager members. This membership category is reserved for Canadian portfolio managers who place a heavy emphasis on exchange traded fund (ETF) investing.
CETFA recently introduced the portfolio manager category to allow for a deeper and more diverse discussion of ETF uses in the marketplace.
Portfolio managers must generally meet the following requirements for membership: manage more than $100 million in assets, where a minimum of 50% of the assets are managed on a discretionary basis, and 25% of which are exposed to ETFs. In addition, each portfolio manager must have at least five years of investment management experience.
The following portfolio managers have joined CETFA:
- Tim Morton, The Morton Group, CIBC Wood Gundy;
- Thane Stenner, Stenner Investment Partners, Richardson GMP;
- Terry Shaunessy, Shaunessy Investment Counsel;
- Reg Jackson, JMRD Wealth Management Team, National Bank;
- David Bruce, The David Bruce Group, BMO Nesbitt Burns;
- Jeff Black, Crestridge Asset Management;
- Michael Bowman, Wickham Investment Counsel; and
- Brent Vandermeer, Fraser Vandermeer Asset Management, HollisWealth.
“Our portfolio manager category is now a real reflection of the ‘who’s who’ of ETF investing in Canada – they are an invaluable resource for our association due to the industry feedback they provide on best practices, as well as their ability to help us with educational outreach for the broader investing public,” said Howard Atkinson, CETFA’s current chair and president of Horizons ETFs Management (Canada) Inc.
