The Financial Action Task Force under Canada’s presidency came to a close June 30, presenting 49 recommendations. The recommendations will be used the world over to assess anti-money laundering and anti-terrorist financing regimes.
The past year under Canada’s leadership is being remembered for its successes. It has increased membership and international participation, and has furthered the analysis of terrorism and money laundering threats, to name a few.
During its presidency, Canada oversaw the evaluation of both the United Kingdom’s and the People’s Republic of China’s regimes, now in early 2008, it will face the same thing.
