BMO Capital Markets will be donating the institutional equity trading commissions it generates on Wednesday, September 25, to eight education-focused charities.
The investment firm says that as part of its ninth annual Equity Through Education trading day, for the ninth consecutive year, it will donate the commissions earned in the U.S. and Canada on that day to eight charitable organizations that work to improve access to education.
This year, the proceeds will go to: the Canadian Merit Scholarship Foundation, the Financial Women’s Association, the Jackie Robinson Foundation, the Foundation for the Advancement of Aboriginal Youth, Indspire, Lime Connect, Pathways to Education Canada, and Women in Capital Markets.
“BMO’s Equity Through Education program ensures that scholarships and bursaries go to young, promising individuals,” said Eric Tripp, president of BMO Capital Markets. “The program’s focus on diversity is important to us as we strive to ensure that BMO’s workforce is representative of the society in which we work and live.”
The firm says that the program has raised more than $12.3 million since it was established in 2005, and that is as helped more than 2,500 individuals as a result.
