The BlackNorth Initiative (BNI), which aims to end anti-Black systemic racism by focusing on the corporate world, has partnered with Boston Consulting Group (BCG) to create a new tool to help Canadian corporations promote racial equity in the workplace.
The Racial Equity Playbook provides companies with context on the Black community as well as actions to become more inclusive, providing organizations with “real, tangible steps to take toward racial equity,” said Dahabo Ahmed-Omer, executive director of the BNI, in a release on Wednesday.
The playbook’s six pillars of action target diversity and equity in: hiring, development opportunities, compensation, vendor networks, companies’ portfolios and brands, and the support of organizations and communities that advance racial equity.
“BCG is extremely proud to partner with BNI in helping fulfill its mission of ending anti-Black systemic racism in Canada,” said Daniel Shadd, managing director and partner at BCG Toronto, in the release. “We are excited about the launch of the Racial Equity Playbook, which will enable corporate Canada to take concrete actions towards racial equity and be part of the solution.”
