Top executives from Bay Street’s banks, investment, accounting, and law firms, are preparing compete in the sixth annual Scrabble Corporate Challenge, presented by TMX Group.
On March 3, Bay Street wordsmiths will gather at the Design Exchange to play Scrabble to raise funds for Frontier College. Frontier College is Canada’s original literacy organization that provides literacy programs for children, youth and adults across Canada.
“TMX Group is proud to support the Scrabble Corporate Challenge and the important work of Frontier College,” saysTom Kloet, TMX Group CEO.
“With over 40 companies competing at this year’s event, we’re thrilled that so many organizations are as passionate about improving literacy skills as we are.”
Companies including Barrick Gold, Bell Canada, CIBC, CNW Group, Ernst & Young, KPMG, Bank of Nova Scotia, Standard & Poor’s and TD Financial Group, will battle it out with the help of world-class ranked Scrabble champions to see who will take home the TMX Cup.
“It’s fantastic to see these organizations take the initiative to enrich the lives of Canadians,” says Sherry Campbell, president, Frontier College.
“Literacy is crucial to the success of our economy and low literacy skills are directly linked to poverty, poor health and high unemployment. Frontier College works in communities across Canada by training volunteers to help children, youth and adults with low literacy improve their skills.”
The event was established in 2005, and since then has raised over $1 million.
