The Canadian chapter of the Alternative Investment Management Association (AIMA Canada) has unveiled the membership of its executive committee for 2006-2008.
Deputy chairwoman is Tris Lett, Integra Capital Management.
Andrew Doman, Man Alternative Investment Corp., is secretary,
The executive committee will include three new members.
Phil Schmitt, is a leading Canadian hedge fund executive, who succeeds Jim McGovern of Arrow Hedge Partners Inc. as chairman.
Michael Burns of McMillan Binch Mendelsohn LLP succeeds Gary Ostoich as legal counsel. Chris Pitts of PricewaterhouseCoopers succeeds Jow Lee as Treasurer.
They will be joined by current members. Tris Lett of Integra Capital Management is deputy chair, and Andrew Doman of Man Alternative Investment Corp. is secretary. Lett and Doman will continue in their present executive committee positions for an additional two-year term.
In announcing the new committee membership, AIMA Canada Chairman Phil Schmitt welcomed Burns and Pitts, both of whom have been active with AIMA Canada at the committee level for several years, and expressed sincere appreciation to outgoing members McGovern, Ostoich and Lee for their many contributions to AIMA Canada over the years.
“We are grateful to these outgoing executives for their leadership and the important role they have played in the notable achievements of AIMA Canada. Included among these achievements are: the development of professional seminars and the launch of professional and educational materials including a series of Hedge Fund Strategy Papers, a Guide to Sound Practices for Disclosure and Promotion of Alternative Investments, a Hedge Fund Investor Checklist, the AIMA Canada Guide to Sound Practices for Canadian Hedge Fund Managers and the AIMA Canada Hedge Fund Primer, as well as the introduction of the AIMA Canada Research Award,” Schmitt said, in a news release.
“We owe a particular debt of gratitude to our founding chairman Jim McGovern for his tireless efforts and the immeasurable contributions he has made to the establishment and growth of AIMA Canada since its inception in 2003. We are delighted that Jim has agreed to continue as an ex-officio member of the executive committee,” he added.
