AIMA Canada made the announcement when it revealed its 2008-2010 committee membership today.
Current executive committee members Phil Schmitt, chairman, Michael Burns, legal counsel, Andrew Doman, secretary, and Chris Pitts, treasurer, will continue in their present positions for an additional two-year term.
In announcing the new executive committee membership, AIMA Canada Chairman Phil Schmitt welcomed McConnell to the committee and expressed sincere appreciation to outgoing deputy chairman Tris Lett for the many contributions he has made to AIMA Canada since its inception in 2003.
“We are grateful to Tris for the important role he has played in the notable achievements of AIMA Canada, including the development of professional and educational materials and the launch of the AIMA Canada Research Award. We look forward to his continued presence and contribution within the membership at large,” Schmitt said in a release.
AIMA Canada was formed in March 2003 to act as the voice of the alternative investment industry in Canada.
The Alternative Investment Management Association (AIMA) is an international non-profit association based in London, UK. Its membership includes fund-of-funds managers, institutional investors, hedge funds, prime brokers, exchanges, fund administrators, auditors, lawyers and other service providers. AIMA now has 1,280 corporate members in 47 countries.
