Quebec’s finance minister has announced the formation of a couple of economic task forces.
Finance minister Monique Jerome-Forget announced the formation of the Task Force on Business Investment that’s charged with helping the government identify ways to increase investment to sustain economic growth.
The Task Force will be chaired by Pierre Fortin, professor at the Universite du Quebec a Montreal. Fortin will be assisted by Andree Corriveau, former president and CEO of the Centre Financier International de Montreal, and Jean Boivin, associate professor at the Ecole des Hautes Etudes Commerciales. It will submit its report in January 2008.
Jerome-Forget also announced the formation of the Task Force on Rate Setting to examine the issues and advise the government on the formulation of a new policy on rates imposed by the Quebec government.
It will be chaired by Claude Montmarquette, professor at the Universite de Montreal, assisted by Lise Lachapelle, a consultant in business strategy and public policy, and by Joseph Facal, professor at the Ecole des Hautes Etudes Commerciales. It will also report in January.
