The Canada Customs and Revenue Agency today announced that Yves Lefebvre an independant agent in mutuals funds for Les Services Financiers Assep inc., has pleaded guilty to a charge of tax evasion.
The CCRA’s investigation found that Lefebvre had used a self-directed RRSP scheme that enabled an investor in the Outaouais region of the Quebec to withdraw money, untaxed, from a registered retirement savings plan.
The amount transferred was $33,900. CCRA slapped Lefebvre with a fine of $22,374 — 66% of the amount transferred — and has given him six months to pay.
