The Ontario Securities Commission (OSC) announced the members of its new Investment Funds Technical Advisory Committee (IFTAC) on Aug. 28.
The IFTAC replaces the previous group that provided the regulator with input on the investment funds sector, which was known as the Investment Funds Product Advisory Committee.
It will focus on technical compliance issues, the OSC said, and will aim to identify “opportunities for improving alignment between investor, industry and regulatory goals.”
The IFTAC for 2019-2021 is chaired by Melissa Schofield, senior legal counsel in the OSC’s investment funds and structured products branch.
The inaugural committee features representatives from industry firms TD Securities Inc., CIBC World Markets Inc. and BMO Capital Markets; asset managers Vanguard Investments Canada Inc., BlackRock Asset Management Canada Ltd., RBC Global Asset Management, AGF Investments Inc., CI Investments Inc., Mackenzie Financial Corporation and Lysander Funds Ltd.; and infrastructure firms Neo Exchange Inc. and Fundserv Inc.
It also includes representatives from CFA Societies Canada and law firms McMillan LLP and Fasken Martineau DuMoulin LLP.
