The Ontario Securities Commission (OSC) is extending its consultation on possible new capital-raising exemptions, such as a crowdfunding exemption, by a month.

Back in mid-December, the OSC published a consultation paper which set out four ideas for possible new prospectus exemptions, including crowdfunding and offering memorandum exemptions, and exemptions based on industry experience, and the provision of fiduciary advice.

The OSC hasn’t promised to move forward with any of these exemptions, rather, it’s seeking feedback on the concepts.

The consultation period to consider these ideas was due to end on Feb. 12, but today, it said that it will extend the deadline to March 8, allowing more time to consider the issues, given “the breadth and complexity of the concept ideas.”
