The Ontario Securities Commission said today it has frozen another set of accounts belonging to John Fraleigh in connection with trades in Placer Dome Inc. securities that took place before Barrick Gold Corp. made a bid for the company.

In a release, the OSC said it had frozen accounts held at Dundee Securities Corp. in the name of Fraleigh or Boutraille Corp.

The OSC must appear before an Ontario Court by Nov. 15 to seek to continue the order, it said.

On Monday, the OSC said it froze the account held in Fraleigh’s name at BMO InvestorLine, as part of an investigation into trading of securities of Placer Dome Inc. prior to the announcement of a US$9.2 billion takeover bid.

Last week, the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission launched a case against an unknown investor who purchased Placer Dome call options just days before Barrick Gold announced a takeover bid for the company in partnership with Goldcorp Inc.
