The Ontario Securities Commission has approved proposed amendments to the rules of the Investment Dealers Association of Canada dealing with proficiency requirements.
The OSC has approved amendments that will establish standards for the qualification of chief compliance officers and registration approval. The proposed CCO exam will establish a standard of professional competence for the CCO position. The proposed amendments were published on October 27, 2006, and the IDA received no comment letters, and so no changes were required.
The commission also approved proposed amendments to the IDA’s continuing education program, which clarify the requirements of the CE program. “The consolidation of these items into the rule will provide a single point of reference for member firms and approved persons,” it says. Again, the amendments, which were published on February 2, but received no comment letters.
