The Mutual Fund Dealers Association is advising its members that the Manitoba Securities Commission has issued a notice announcing that it will not be renewing a blanket order allowing fund dealers to trade certain deposit note securities.

The MSC issued a blanket order dated November 14, 2003 to permit mutual fund dealers to sell these products without applying for and securing an amendment to their registration. The order expires on December 31, and will not be extended, the MFDA reports.

The MFDA says that any mutual fund dealer registered in Manitoba who wishes to trade in these products after that date should apply for an amendment to their registration. It adds that the MSC notice provides guidance to mutual fund dealers for requesting amendments to their registration and the expectations MSC staff will have concerning the sales of these products.
