An Ontario judge has fined Barry Landen $200,000 in connection with illegal insider trading, the Ontario Securities Commission reported Thursday.
On Oct. 24, 2008, Justice Shamai pronounced Landen guilty of insider trading in securities of Agnico-Eagle Mines Ltd.
The judge found that Landen, who was a senior officer of Agnico-Eagle in October 2003, traded in securities while in possession of material undisclosed information.
The judge sentenced Landen to a 45-day jail term and ordered him to pay a fine of $200,000.
